Africa Doesn’t Have Necessary Software Technology To Develop Economy – Expert

A leading film technology development firm in Africa, Coders4Africa (C4A), has said that Africa does not have the necessary software technology to aid economic development in the region.

Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Amadu Dafe, stated this yesterday at the 2015 Coders4Africa technology conference, themed: Shaping Africa’s Software Industry Towards A Digital Economy, organised in collaboration with the National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN), in Abuja.

He challenged Nigeria to take advantage of its population to advance technology in the country while urging the rest of Africa to emulate the development strategy of the west.

According to him, “Apple, a company which was setup in the 1970s has 16 engineers with a turnover of $250 billion and Nigeria with about 170 million people have a GDP of $510 billion”.

Affirming the firm’s commitment to support Africa’s economy through advanced software development, Dafe however said that the region has very few software developers with little impactful apps and skills.
