ECOBANK GHANA LIMITED

Ecobank Ghana Limited, a member of the pan-African Ecobank chain, is a commercial bank in Ghana engaged in merchant, investment, and retail banking. It commenced business on February 19, 1990 and subsequently became the first bank in Ghana to receive a universal banking license from the Bank of Ghana when such scheme was introduced in 2003. With a network of 77 branches and 211 ATM machines across the country, Ecobank Ghana is currently the biggest bank in Ghana. The bank has over the years made good returns to its shareholders with Return On Average Equity (ROAE) and Return On Average Assets (ROAA) averaging above 35% and 4% respectively over the past 5 years. At the end of the 2016 financial year, the bank recorded an asset size over GH¢ 8 billion, profit before tax of GH¢ 462.6 million, ROAE of 35.4%, and ROAA of 4.4%.
