AngloGold Ashanti finds 570 hospital beds for South African health authorities

AngloGold Ashanti said today it has two hospitals it can give to South African authorities, which can used exclusively as part of the frontline COVID-19 effort.

The miner said the facilities can be used to isolate COVID-19 patients.

AngloGold said it has a 270-bed West Vaal facility near Orkney in the North West province. The other is a building closed a number of years ago, but is functional and has 300 beds. The facility was closed as part of a restructuring.

Other initiatives are donating masks, supplying water and helping with various hygiene needs.
