One of the persons who made a presentation at the event Organised with the theme “EHS Strategies – How to ensure a safe work environment”, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry France Ghana (CCIFG) organised an Environmental Health and Safety Conference last week at the Ecobank Auditorium.
Attended by about 70 participants, the event was facilitated by EHS experts from Bureau Veritas, Technip FMC Ghana Ltd, International SOS, Golden Exotics and Eiffage Genie Civil.
The event began with general presentation by Bureau Veritas, which was focused on the meaning of Environmental Health and Safety adding that each component acts as a major factor as it cuts across all sectors.
The facilitator elaborated on the major steps taken by actors and stakeholders to ensure that best results are achieved. He also elaborated on the major role that local regulations play in EHS.
Following this was a presentation by the Country Manager of TechnipFMC. He elaborated on The EHS culture at TechnipFMC, which he said has been labelled Pulse. He explained to participants saying, “Pulse is our global Health, Safety, Environment and Security culture and engagement programme”.
He went on further to give detailed understanding to the EHS management systems in relation to the oil and gas sector and also its underlying requirements of EHS policy and how these policies are implemented by the company.
International SOS then took stage to shed light on EHS and sustainability in the health sector. The team informed participants about the best policy practices before demonstrating a comparative analysis between predictive and preventive EHS situations.
With the team’s other focus on Sustainable Development Goals, the speakers engaged participants in an interactive exercise to allow them have an overview of their company’s EHS practices and how it could improve.
As EHS cuts across sectors, EHS from the agricultural sector was discussed, facilitated by the EHS Manager from Golden Exotics Ltd. The speaker elaborated the EHS policy that outlines specific EHS objectives and targets that are integrated into any organization’s planning process as well as other requirement to meet international standards.
He went further by mentioning how Golden Exotics Limited implements these policies. He concluded by stating the key benefits of HSE to Golden Exotics.
