GCB G-Money mobile wallet to be launched on Jan 30

The GCB G-Money mobile wallet announced last year is officially going to see the light by the end of this month. The new financial service from the Ghana Commercial Bank is set to go live on January 30, 2020.

GCB G-Money is a platform that allows users to send and receive electronic money , pay for goods and services, just like any other electronic money wallet. There’s an added feature to make it unique from the others. G-Money comes with the capability for users to take loans from GCB.

The service can be used to pay for utility bills in Ghana as well. It is also fully interoperable with all the mobile money platforms we have currently. Thus, funds can be transferred to the G-Money wallet from telcos’ MoMo wallets and vice versa.

The Managing Director of GCB, Ray Sowah touched on the reason for the service. “ Under goal nine of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 9) which focuses on industry, innovation, and infrastructure, the Bank seeks to bridge the digital divide which is crucial to ensure equal access to information and financial services, ” he said.

To access this service, you would have to register at any GCB branch across the country.
