Ghana International Bank appoints new Head of Coverage for Africa

Baafuor Ohene Abankwa Ghana International Bank plc has announced the appointment of Baafuor Ohene Abankwa as Head of Client Coverage for its Africa Business.

He will be responsible for managing the African Coverage Team and is tasked with leading the growth into new markets in East and Central Africa whilst ensuring the continuous delivery of value to the existing client portfolio in West Africa. Prior to this appointment, he was the Head of Client Coverage for West Africa and drove growth in the Bank’s business in the sub-region, particularly with Financial Institutions.

He had previously worked with Republic Bank (Ghana) Limited, Ecobank Ghana Limited and The Trust Bank Limited.

His banking career started with Standard Chartered Bank where he was recruited as a management trainee. He also had a stint with Ernst and Young, Ghana.

He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana.

He is an alumnus of the University of Ghana where he studied for an MBA in Finance as well as a BSc. in Biochemistry and Nutrition.

Ghana International Bank plc is a wholly Ghanaian owned Bank based in London and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority.

The Bank focuses mainly on Correspondent and Corporate banking, providing treasury services, international trade finance, lending and transaction banking services.

Its operations are geared to supporting the economies of Ghana in particular and the continent of Africa in general.
