Guinness Ghana wins Beverage Company of the Year at AGI Awards

Guinness Ghana Breweries PLC has affirmed its place as Ghana’s leading total beverage business by emerging the Beverage Company of the Year and Best Practice in Sustainable Manufacturing Company at the 10th AGI Industry and Quality Awards.

The total beverages manufacturing company which has been operating in Ghana for over 60 years was awarded for its role in driving business performance during the COVID-19 pandemic period and maintaining the highest standards of sustainable production practices.

Speaking to the media, Corporate Relations Director for Guinness Ghana, Sylvia Owusu-Ankomah dedicated the award to the staff, partners and customers of the company.

“COVID-19 tested the business community in Ghana and across the globe, but our employees stood tall through the period and got us over the line. They worked tirelessly to ensure that we are celebrating life every day, everywhere, with our consumers, our suppliers and our customers.”

“Due to their commitment, we gained significant share in the beer and Ready To Drink category and drove the productivity agenda within our business to enable us to reinvest in our brands and innovate in new categories and segments, she added.

On his part, Sustainability and Responsibility Manager for Guinness Ghana Breweries PLC, Felix Baidoo said, great strides had been made in the last year to ensure the business remains sustainable by design.
“In November last year, Guinness Ghana, as a subsidiary of Diageo Plc, actively championed Society 2030: Spirit of Progress which is Diageo’s 10-year action plan set to help create a more inclusive and sustainable world. It is remarkable that as we celebrate the first anniversary of these goals, we crown if off with this award.”

He noted, “our focus is on decarbonizing our own operations which we have demonstrated with our solar project which powers parts of our Achimota brewery, replenishing more water than we use, eliminating waste from our value chain and creating innovative solutions to grow sustainably which you can experience in our new state of the art Brewhouse. We look forward to pursuing our Society 2030 goals in the next year.
