Payment service bank announces board appointments

Hope Payment Service Bank, a subsidiary of Unified Payments, has appointed new board members for the bank.

A statement on Sunday said the board had approved the appointments of Alhaji Shehu Abubakar as Chairman and Ayotunde Kuponiyi as Managing Director.

According to the statement, non-Executive Directors of the bank are Agada Apochi, Ochanya Dan-Ugo, Festus Ikediasor while Ano Anyanwu and Nana Mede are named Independent Directors.

The statement signed by the Head, Corporate Services, Hope PSBank, Cletus Igah, stated that Abubakar had over 30 years of experience in the banking industry holding strategic positions in different banks.

It said the chairman worked at different times in International Merchant Bank, FSB International Bank, Fidelity Bank and Keystone Bank where he retired as an Executive Director.

Until he was appointed, Kuponiyi held various leadership roles in both the banking and telecoms industries where he was director, telebanking at Globacom Nigeria and the head of the consumer distribution department at Ecobank Nigeria.

At Ecobank Nigeria, it said, Kuponiyi was the team lead of the consumer bank implementation, which was an aspect of the upgrade project of the bank’s core banking application across 33 countries in Africa.

He is a member of the governing board of the Committee of e-Banking Industry Heads and is expected to bring to bear his experience in the banking and telecommunication sectors to his new role.
