Republic Bank introduces mobile app

Republic Bank Ghana has introduced a new mobile banking application to enable customers across the country transact business with the bank with ease.

Christened ‘Republic Mobile App’ the digital suite which consist of RepublicMobile Ghana, RepublicOnline and RepublicUSSD allows customers to have an instant and convenient way of banking via the mobile phone.

Speaking at the launch of the digital suite yesterday in Accra, the Managing Director (MD) of Republic Bank, Mr Farid Antar, said the bank’s new and improved digital services is the best on the market because of its robust security systems. It also has a wide range of financial services that both customers and non-customers can access.

“As a bank, one of our key strategy is to offer efficient service to our customers. To achieve this, there is the need to churn out products, channels and platforms that offer convenience to customers, improve efficiency and enhance the customer’s experience,” he stated.

He said the concept of a Mobile App is not new to many however, the Republic Bank’s app has been designed to deliver superior financial services and with a 24/7 customer care support by his outfit.

The new improved mobile app allows subscribers of the RepublicMobile Ghana, RepublicUSSD*414# or RepublicOnline to transact financial services such as mobile transfers to any mobile money service in Ghana, instant interbank transfers to bank account in Ghana, access to investment services, micro loans, access to brokerage services for stock market dealings and personal finance including bancassurance.

The use of the app itself, which is very easy to navigate comes at no fees however, some services have fees which are very competitive with current market price.

Mr Antar said “the proliferation of smart phones in the hands of so-called illiterates shows that digitalisation has caught up with us such that our app has a USSD function, which means it works just as mobile money and you do not need a smart phone but you can have more access to financial services and products wherever you are.”
