Republic Bank supports KTU clinic construction

Management of the Koforidua Technical University and the Republic Bank during presentation of the cheque The Republic Bank Ghana has donated GH¢200,000 to the Koforidua Technical University (KTU), to help in the construction of its proposed health facility.

At a short ceremony last Thursday at the KTU, the cheque was handed over to the management of the institution in fulfilment of a commitment made by the bank to help construct a health facility for the school.

The donation was the second tranche of a GH¢300,000 pledge made by the bank to the school, for which it already donated GH¢100,000 last year.

Support

The General Manager in Charge of Commercial and Retail Banking of the Republic Bank, Joseph Laryea Ashong, said the support formed part of their corporate social responsibility intended to help the health and education sector, which are core parts of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"As part of the Sustainable Development Goals three and four which relate to health and education, we believe that this project falls exactly in line with the bank’s vision of supporting communities in terms of health and education.

“We believe that if we help the school, it is going to impart health not to only the people in the school but in the community as well, hence helping fulfill the SDGs," he said.

Mr Ashong added that the bank had been at the forefront of supporting communities they operate in, stating, "we have supported a number of medical facilities across the country since the outbreak of COVID-19, especially in areas where we operate.

“In Cape Coast, we supported the Ankaful Hospital and the prison as well. We built schools and still support others with information and communication technology materials to help with teaching and learning in schools."

The Vice-Chancellor of the KTU, Professor David Kofi Essumang, expressed gratitude to the management of the Republic Bank for the gesture and assured that the funds would be administered judiciously to satisfy its purpose."We are very grateful to the management of the Republic Bank; they have shown a great support and commitment to the development of the KTU.
