Social Bank Donation The Republic Bank Ghana Limited has presented a number of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and other equipment to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital as its contribution to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
They including nose masks, gun thermometers, BP apparatus, glucometers, and alcohol based hand sanitizers amounting to thousands of Ghana cedis was made possible by the benevolent contributions of staff of the bank. Kaya Spirits Mr Akwasi Peprah Odoom, General Manager of the Bank who made the presentation, said the Republic Bank recognised the need to support government’s efforts, as the World battled with the unprecedented challenge of the novel Coronavirus.
Therefore, he said the Republic Financial Holdings Limited has committed US$2 million contribution collectively, across the territories in which it operated, of which Ghana had received GH¢ 1.1 million.
The pledge, according to him, fell under the Bank’s “Power to Make a Difference” programme, which specifically sought to address some of the key immediate requirements in the fight against COVID-19.
The Bank, he noted, recognised the dynamic nature of the COVID-19 situation and remained committed to continuous assessment of its actions and responses to ensure that the best interests of its staff, clients and communities were served.
In that regard, the Bank had provided cash flow reliefs to those affected by the disruption brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said the Republic Group had taken numerous steps to safeguard the well-being of its customers and staff, while ensuring the provision of essential banking services.
Mr Odoom commended frontline health workers for their selfless dedication to their work in the fight against the pandemic.
Dr Eric Ngyedu, Chief Executive Officer of CCTH thanked the Bank for the gesture, which would greatly help the hospital provide essential services and implored on other cooperate institutions to go to their aid.
