City lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has joked that he may purchase a Kenya Airways plane going by the national carrier’s recent losses.
The senior counsel made the statement on his Twitter page on Tuesday, March 23, morning. "KenyaAirways made a loss of KSh 36 billion. Can I purchase one of their Embraer 190…I’m sure it’s cheaper than a Bentley Bentayga," the lawyer tweeted. Ahmednasir is known for his taste for good things in life, and four years ago, he impressed Kenyans when he acquired a Mercedes Benz AMG G63, one of the rarest cars in Kenya. Kenya Airways’ losses

The situation continues to be difficult even as we gradually resume our operations, mainly due to the depressed demand for air travel, with recovery to 2019 levels expected to take between three to four years.” The national carrier cited March 2020, at the onset of the pandemic in Kenya, as the worst year in aviation history. "Airline passenger traffic reduced to levels last seen in 1999 resulting in 21 years of traffic growth being wiped out in just one year following the government’s directive to suspend all passenger services to curb the spread of coronavirus," it said.
