Safaricom ranked among Africa’s top employers of choice in 2019

– Safaricom was ranked position 17 in the top 100 African employers of choice in 2019

– Top 10 slots were dominated by international brands with presence in East and West Africa

– Other home-grown brands in top 100 list included East African Breweries, CBK, Bamburi Cement and KCB

Telecommunications giant Safaricom has once again been ranked among the top employers of choice in Africa and the most admired employer in Kenya.

The telco was picked by professionals from across 54 African countries as the brand of choice out of more than 1,100 brands reviewed for 2019.

The Careers in Africa Employer of Choice 2019 report ranked Safaricom position 17 in the top 100 list of employers of choice.

The report showed the telecommunications firm remained the most admired home-grown brand in Kenya followed by Nairobi-headquartered East African Breweries Limited (EABL) at position 26 in Africa.

The top 10 positions were, however, dominated by international brands, most of which have strong presence in East and West African countries.

Top three positions went to Nigeria LNG, MTN and African Development Bank respectively followed by IOM, Vivo Energy and Development Bank of Southern Africa at positions four, five and six respectively.
Globally, Total was named the international employer of choice in 2019, ahead of the UN and last year,s winner, the World Bank.The 2019 employer of choice survey was conducted by the globalcareercompany.com and is considered the largest ever survey conducted by the global think tank.According to the researchers, some 29,216 African professionals participated by choosing the brand they most want to work for in Africa.All the 54 countries in the continent were represented and over 1,100 brands reviewed. "This year saw the first time that Africans were able to vote for their favourite international brand, and their favourite African brand. For the first time, we are able to reveal the preferred companies and organisations on a multi-national and regional level," the organisation noted.
