Safaricom Set to Begin its Ksh 20 a day 4G Smartphone Financing Plan Tomorrow

Kenya’s largest telco, Safaricom, is set to begin its Ksh 20 a day 4G smartphone package tomorrow. The telco first announced the 20 bob a day smartphone financing plan in April, aimed at helping Kenyans with 2G phones upgrade to 4G devices in partnership with Google.

The telco eventually seeks to, throughout this financial year, upgrade a million of its 3G and 2G customer base to 4G. Safaricom has 4million users connected via 2G and 3G.

Safaricom customers will be able to access “all phones” available at the telco’s customer care shops, affectionately called Safaricom Shops, according to a recent article published by Business Daily .

Avid readers of TechTrendsKE know that, at the time of the announcement , Safaricom didn’t mention a thing on the phones that will be available under the program. That means you can go for that Galaxy S or Note series phone that you’ve always marveled at.

So, all phones stocked at Safaricom shops will be available, but the daily payments will vary depending on the device.

However, the whole cost of the smartphone will have to be repaid within a period of one year – together with interest, of course.
