Two Rivers makes over Sh1bn during Somali Cultural Festival 2021

NAIROBI Kenya, Aug 4-Two Rivers Mall made over Sh1 billion in sales during the Somali Cultural Festival 2021 held at the mall two weeks ago, a new report reveals.

The report by Centum Investment Company shows that the footfall number was above 20,000 in the period between January 2020 to July 2021 when the event covered 55 percent of the total sum.

At the same time, the mall witnessed over 5000 car counts in the period between January 2020 to July 2021 with the festival covering 51 percent of the total sum.

Two Rivers Managing Director Lifestyle Centre Theodoros Pantis says that the event was one of the most successful in the last three years, more than 100 vendors boosting business in the mall.

“More than 20,000 sponsors participated in the event and more than 100 activations and we made a lot of sales from the vendors and the participating shops,” said Pantis.

Centum Chief Executive Officer James Mworia added that they will also create a platform for traders to further do business in the mall.

“ We have been in discussions to create a platform for traders to have a venue to sell and customers can access products affordably,” said Mworia.

The food and beverage and entertainment categories experienced the highest week on week sales increase during the Somali Cultural Week at 500 percent and 400 percent respectively compared to the preceding period.

On social media, Two Rivers engagement increased by 1.5 percent with a 1.1 percent engagement rate while the Facebook reach for the month of July increased by 19.3 percent to 1.26 million people.

The event was aimed at celebrating an energetic seven-day celebration of Eid-al-Adha, a holy day that honours the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ishmael and the Kenya Somali community.
