Kauju adds, "Customers willing and can meet the full connection costs as opposed to waiting for the free connections, are advised to apply effective this week."

This arrangement started on Monday this week.

The Electricity Regulatory Authority has also set costs for each type of connection for a no-pole or one-pole connection.

For the no pole, connections one will be charged sh720,883; one pole bare conductor at sh2,387,472, and one pole Insulated conductor at sh2,741,188.

Kauju, in the statement also notes that there will be an inspection fee of sh41,300.

He also notes that for the customers who had already applied under the free programme and would like to opt for the self-funded connection, "Should notify us of the change."

"We will advise the next steps. Payment can be made through our convenient 24/7payment options which include the banks," Kauju explains.
