Unga wa Dola bags Superbrands status

Local flour brand Unga wa Dola has been awarded the Superbrands status, a move that has seen the firm join a select club of Kenyan companies.

Unga wa Dola, launched a few years ago by Kitui Flour Millers, received the recognition due to its popularity with local consumers, the global self-proclaimed arbiter of branding said.

Unga wa Dola features an array of products that include Dola rice, maize, chapati, home baking and Atta Mark flour brands.

“In a country where expectations have rightfully risen with a more discerning customer, brands have to be innovative and responsive enough to continually deliver for them to retain their valuable reputations,” said Unga wa Dola Marketing Director Mohamed Taib. “Being named a Superbrand in Kenya is an accolade that every brand should be proud of. We are however cognizant of the fact that to retain this award, we must keep on delivering quality and reliable products that stand out in our market,’’ said Mr Taib. Unga wa Dola now joins about 20,000 renowned brands in more than 85 countries globally that have the Superbrands status.

They include M-Pesa by Safaricom, DHL, Britam and Artcaffe Group. Mr Taib said the firm will continue to produce premium flour for its esteemed customers while noting that Unga wa Dola’s consistency in offering quality and premium products played a big role in the achievement of status.

“Our customers and stakeholders are our future and the future of our company.

“We want them to continue enjoying making smooth pastries, flawless chapatis, Ugali and the best of healthy delicacies for the sweet rich taste of home.”
