Tanzania: Volumes are continuing to rise, exceeding $25m

Activity in twelve equities at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) resulted into over 10 times increase in turnover of 60.38bn/-compared to 7.20bn/- posted in the previous session.

During the week, the Tanzania Breweries Company Limited (TBL) dominated the bourse in terms of turnover and number of shares transacted. The counter traded 3,974,450 shares on a pre-arranged deal at 15,000 worth 59.61bn/-.

According to Zan Securities Limited weekly market wrapups, trading volume was running about 192 per cent above previous week volume.

Price movements were recorded in nine local listed companies of which six counters (SWISSPORT, TBL, CRDB, TCC, TOL and SIMBA) gained while (MKCB, DCB and NMB) lost.

SWISSPORT led the gainers with 5.95 per cent price appreciation, followed by TBL 3.45 per cent and CRDB 1.32 per cent. Top losers were MKCB, DCB and NMB by 8.33 per cent, 1.45 per cent and 0.85 per cent respectively.
