Kampala — The president of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has asked residents of Nwoya district in northern uganda to change their attitude towards investors as a way of attracting more investors to the country.
Museveni was responding to complaints from investors about the mistrust that Ugandans have especially regarding land usage and control. This was during the ground breaking ceremony in AFGRI Gulu, an agricultural investment company dealing in post-harvest handling and processing of grains in order to get quality.
“It is good that farmers in this area have allowed AFGRI to partner with you in improving your agriculture outputs,” Museveni said.
“These are the investors that we need, the ones that can bring house hold income generation for a common Ugandan. However, I have been informed that people in this area do not trust the investors because you feel they are after taking your land. That kind of attitude must change because in the end, it is the farmers who are going to gain from these developments,” he said.
The Managing Director, Kim Johansen, AFGRI GULU said their main purpose is to uplift the agriculture sector through maintaining quality production.
