Brussels Airlines A320 Brussels Airlines has signed a codeshare agreement with Russian flag carrier Aeroflot.
Beginning January 20, the partnership will allow passengers to through check-in their bags for connecting flights with either airline from Moscow and Brussels.
Aeroflot is a member of the Skyteam alliance, while Brussels Airlines is a member of rival Star Alliance.
Codeshares, which allow flights operated by one carrier to be booked with another, are popular among airlines wishing to extend their networks.
Recent signings include Virgin Atlantic and Westjet , Malaysia Airlines and British Airways , Finnair and LATAM , and China Southern and Emirates .
Brussels Airlines has numerous codeshare partners , including United, Lufthansa, Thai Airways, Air Canada, ANA, Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines.
Aeroflot’s codeshare partners include Aeromexico, Air France, Air Europa, Delta, Finnair, KLM, Kenya Airways, LOT Polish, Saudia and Vietnam Airlines.
The Russian carrier is based at Sheremetyevo International Airport.
