According to a report by SABC News on Thursday, January 16, the airport will be built in Bishoftu, 39 km south east of the capital. “Bole Airport is not going to accommodate us; we have a beautiful expansion project. The airport will have the capacity to handle 100 million passengers annually five times more than Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa which has an estimated passenger capacity of 19 million.
Its construction will begin in the next six months.
