Large Cap Stocks Dominated NSE’s Top Movers Category on Tuesday

Four Large cap stocks dominated the top 5 movers’ category at the NSE on Tuesday, having sold a total of 4.23 million shares combined.

The stocks, Safaricom, Equity, KCB Group and Cooperative Bank held the top 4 positions with Kenya Re-Insurance coming in at the fifth position.

Safaricom sold a volume of 2.36 million shares on Tuesday and recorded a market capitalization of 1.31 trillion shillings.

While the telecom stock sold the most shares at the bourse, it shed 0.76 percentage points in its share price having ended the day at 32.65 shillings.

Troubled Uchumi Supermarket secured a spot in the top gainers’ category after its share price gained 8 percentage points to close the day at 0.27 shillings.

Other stocks that gained the most in their share prices were Carbacid Investments, Trans-Century, Sasini Tea and Coffee and Standard Group which gained 8.24, 8.11, 4.24 and 4.00 percentage points.

In the top losers’ category, TPS Eastern Africa took the top position after losing 8.09 percentage points in its share price and ended the day trading at 17.05 shillings on Tuesday.

Nairobi Securities Exchange’s share price also lost 2.19 percent after ending the day trading at 11.15 shillings and recording a turnover of 59,055 shillings.
