Stanbic, Centenary cut down on working hours

11 days ago . 1 min Read Commercial banks have revised their working hours for branches as the second nationwide lockdown disrupts operations.

In July 2020, banks had resumed full operations after the COVID-19 lockdown was lifted on most businesses such as arcades and malls, schools among others.

Stanbic, Absa, and Centenary Bank have indicated that branches will now be open between 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, compared to the 8:30 am to 5:00 pm working hours before the lockdown announcement on June 18, 2021.

Since Saturday, the banks have been adjusting working hours to 9:00 am to 1:00 pm as several economic sectors remain closed. The banks have encouraged clients to use digital channels amid the ongoing COVID-19 concerns.

Uganda is currently experiencing a surge in COVID-19 infections and deaths resulting from the virus have hit 660, according to June 18, 2021, update from the Ministry of Health.

The update shows that Uganda lost 34 people on June 18, which cumulatively brought to 660 the total number of people that have died from the virus since the first case was reported in March of last year.
