Akyempim (W/R), April 2, GNA – AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem (AAI) mines has held its 17th annual non-denominational thanksgiving service to reflect their recognition of God’s sovereignty and his authority over all activities of the Mine.
The service brought together employees and their families, host communities, contractors, traditional rulers, and government officials.
It was on the theme "Make known among the nations what he has done" (Isaiah 12:4).
The Area Head, Church of Pentecost, Tarkwa, Apostle John Appiah Aidoo, in his message prayed to God to give the management of the Mine a sense of direction so that they could make choices that would help them chalk more successes.
He encouraged management of the Mine to live by the word of God and they would be blessed.
He appealed to the Member of Parliament of Tarkwa Nsuaem, Mr. George Mireku Duker to help fix portions of the Tarkwa-Takoradi road, which he noted was in a very bad state.
The Managing Director of AAI mines, Mr. Jasper Musadaidzwa, in a welcoming address, emphasized that another important reason why they were thanking God was that this year marked exactly 15 years since AngloGold Limited merged with Ashanti Goldfields Limited.
He announced that for the first time, the Mines had achieved an annual gold production of above a quarter of a million ounces (253,483oz) in 2018.
He further stated that, the firm was working assiduously to achieve another record-breaking target in excess of 273,000 oz this year.
According to Mr. Musadaidzwa, in recognition of their operational and sustainability performance in 2018, they received several prestigious awards.He indicated that at their maiden participation in the Ghana Club 100 awards under the auspices of the Ghana Investments Promotion Centre, they were adjudged the 11th best club 100 company and the second-best company in Corporate Social Responsibility.In addition to the Ghana Mining Industry awards, Madam Joana Osei Nkrumah, superintendent metallurgy of AAI Mine retained the first position for the best female miner and their local contractor, MAXMASS, came as the second runner up as best performer in contract mining, he pointed out.He mentioned that a former Senior Manager for Mining, Mr. Noble Peter Emerson Sampson won the Lifetime achievement award.Mr. Musadaidzwa further said the company also won the Sustainable Procurement award and Local Content and supplier Development accolade organized by the procurement and supply chain.The Managing Director noted that within AngoldGold Ashanti, Iduapriem Mine was adjudged the Best Mine in […]
