AngloGold Ashanti AngloGold Ashanti has donated eight motorbikes to the Obuasi East and Obuasi Municipal Education Directorates to aid education delivery in the area. The motorbikes are to help circuit supervisors to make regular visits to schools to monitor instructional delivery and general management of the schools to improve performance of both teachers and pupils.
Mr Eric Asubonteng, Managing Director of AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine, who made the presentation, outlined a number of initiatives the company was implementing to improve learning outcomes in the Adansi enclave.
He said the Senior High Examination Improvement Programme to help final year students excel in their examinations, as well as the Youth Apprenticeship Programme to equip students who could not gain admission into universities, to learn vocation were on course.
He said the company would also build the capacities of the circuit supervisors to enable them discharge their duties effectively, adding that the motorbikes would help facilitate their movement in schools to monitor progress of both students and teachers.
Madam Leticia Obeng, Obuasi East District Director of Education, who received the motorbikes, thanked AngloGold Ashanti for the gesture and said it had come at an opportune time to help circuit supervisors to monitor the covid-19 safety protocols being implemented in the schools.
Oguahyia Oduro Panin Birikorang, Chief of New Edubiase, charged Management of AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine to consider offering employment opportunities to qualified Adansi youth to help minimize the extent of unemployment in the area.
He charged the circuit supervisors to take good care of the motorbikes and use it for the purpose for which they were procured to benefit the pupils and teachers in the area. Disclaimer
