File photo The Managing Director of Unilever Ghana, Mr George Owusu-Ansah has revealed that his company has over the years touched many lives in Ghana and also contributed to the country’s economic development.

He said the core values of the company has made the Unilever an attraction to both foreigners and Ghanaians.

Mr Owusu-Ansah told journalists after the United Kingdom (UK) Commissioner for Trade in Africa, Emma Wade-Smith led a delegation to tour Unilever’s factory in Tema on Monday March 2 that : “This enterprise is about humanity, about people and it’s about the environment.

“I believe these things we do make us an attraction for association not just by envoys and visitors but by even the Ghanaian people because we have been in Ghana for many decades and we have received the support and the patronage of Ghanaians,” he said.

Meanwhile the UK Commissioner for Trade in Africa, Emma Wade-Smith, has advised Ghana to increase its export in order to further boost the local economy.

Ms Wade-Smith told journalists that to enable Ghana to further boost its economy, the oil-producing West African nation will have to increase the export not only to the UK, but to other parts of the world.

Exports, she said, is the way forward for building a stronger economy.

“When we look at the trading relations worth about 1.4billion pounds currently,” she said.

“That is fairly well-placed between export from Ghana and export from the UK. We want to see that better managed in terms of balancing the investment.

“We need to support Ghanaian companies to export more not just to the UK, but globally. That is where the power actually lies.”

Commenting on the success of Unilever Ghana, she commended the company, saying that, its success stories will be used to encourage businesses in the UK to invest and establish businesses in Ghana.
