Minister Of Sanitation And Water Resources Hon. Abena Dapaah Expresses Gratitude To Unilever Ghana

Hon. Abena Dapaah Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Hon. Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah has acknowledged Unilever for their surprise package of detergents to support in keeping the nation of Ghana clean and free of the coronavirus.

She commended One on One Foundation and their director, Olla Williams for their contribution in creating awareness on personal and social hygiene through the Senior High Schools (SHS) Sanitation Inspection Tour.

The minister implored on Ghanaians, especially the youth to abide by the guidelines directed by the president, Nana Akuffo Addo and the health authorities to stay at home to curb the spread of the virus and practice the habit of frequent washing of hands with soap under running water and use of hand sanitizers as well as keeping social distance.

She hailed the security forces who conducted a massive clean up in the central business district of Accra.

Present at the impressive programme were the Minister of Finance, Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta, Hon. Mohammed Adjei Sowah, the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Paa Joe (PM) and assembly members of the AMA.

Mr. Emmanuel Olla Williams who is also the youth coordinator of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) called on the youth to support all clean up programmes in their communities and use Vim to clean their homes and offices.

The Mayor of Accra also thanked Unilever for the kind gesture and appealed to other companies to support the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr. Henry Malm, corporate affairs manager of Unilever said the current disease of the coronavirus calls for Ghanaian to cultivate healthy living styles and Uniliver products are the solution.

He congratulated the organisers of the SHS Sanitation programme which creates awareness among student to live in hygienic conditions.

Unilever, the major sponsor of the Schools Sanitation Inspection Tour last Friday presented cartoons of Vim and Sunlight Soap to the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).

Unilever manufactures products like Domestos thick bleach which disinfects surfaces around homes, kills germs, removes stains and prevents limescale, and the popular Vim, an all- purpose cleaner as well as Sunlight and Brilliant Soaps.The popular Omo powered soap for washing is also produced by Unilever.By Eizabeth Alhassan and Sammy Heywood Okine
