Car And General (K) Kicks Off The Week As Top Gainer Of The Day

The week kicked off with Car and General (K) carrying the day at the Nairobi Securities Exchange as the top gainer of the day with 9.74 percent at the price of 23.10 shillings per share.

Express and Nairobi Business Ventures were the second and third top gainers on Monday with 9.74 and 7.14 percent respectively at the price of 4.17 and 0.60 shillings per share respectively.

Stanlib Fahari Income – REIT and Equity Group were the fourth and fifth gainers with 5.90 and 5.22 percent respectively at the price of 5.74 and 30.25 shillings per share respectively.

Standard Group was the top loser of the day. The media corporation lost 9.78 percent at the price of 20.30 shillings per share followed by Home Afrika who shed off 8.89 percent at the price of 0.41 shillings per share.

Longhorn Publishers lost 7.35 percent at the price of 4.54 shillings per share while Umeme and WPP ScanGroup lost 6.76 and 4.94 percent respectively at the price of 6.90 and 7.32 shillings per share respectively.

Kenya Re-Insurance was the top mover of the day, displacing Safaricom that dominated the whole of last week. Kenya Re-Insurance moved 6.52 million shares with a market capitalization of 6.02 billion shillings.

The Co-operative Bank of Kenya moved 4.48 million shares with a market capitalization of 61.61 billion shillings followed by KCB Group who sold 3.31 million shares with a market capitalization of 99.61 billion shillings.

Safaricom and Equity Group moved 2.81 and 1.55 million shares respectively with a market capitalization of 1.14 trillion 114.15 billion shillings respectively.

As Covid-19 continues to sweep across the country, companies are feeling the heat as investors take off to hide their wealth in safer havens such as gold. Some have opted to fire their employees to cut on the costs.

Kenyan commercial banks that have released the half-year results have registered drops. So far, KCB Group is the only lender that has registered the largest drop in profits at 40 percent. More Articles From This Author
