Kenyan operator Safaricom said it has made it to the shortlist of six firms that have been cleared to bid for one of two Ethiopian telecoms licenses scheduled to be offered this year, The Business Daily reported. Safaricom chairman Michael Joseph said the Ethiopian Communications Authority (ECA) has already whittled the list down from a consortium of twelve that had expressed interest in entering the country’s telecommunications market. Competing firms are required to submit their technical and financial bids by 05 April, compared with the previous deadline of 05 March.
