In a fare chart, the commuter rail service indicated that the bus would be dropping passengers at Jeevanjee, Museum Hill, CFC Stanbic, Chiromo, Westlands Bus Terminus, Brookside, Safaricom, ABSA, ABC place and James Gichuru.
"Westlands is closer than you think! Take the NCR bus from Nairobi Central Railway Station and notice the difference," Kenya Railways wrote on Twitter. With Ksh30, Nairobians will be able to enjoy this service.
At the same time, Kenya Railways will also be offering services from Nairobi Central Railway Station to JKIA via the Embakasi Train.
The launch of the buses came just days Kenya Railways announced that it will have an additional six commuter trains by the end of March plying different routes across the city.
The additional commuter trains referred to as Diesel Multiple Units(DMUs) will increase the frequency of trains in Nairobi and enhance transportation.
The National Youth Service (NYS) had unveiled a similar service but recently suspended it due to losses.
While appearing before the National Assembly Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Wednesday, February 17, Public Service Principal Secretary Mary Kimonye admitted that the service was running at a loss.
The service was charging Ksh20 per passenger to and from Nairobi CBD.
The NYS commute service started with 27 buses that have now been reduced to nine. The PS said most of the buses had broken down and that it was too costly to revive them. People boarding an NYS commuter bus at a stage in Nairobi
