The Commercial Banks in Uganda have been given a green light by the bank of Uganda to change their operation time.
This comes after the Uganda Bankers Association expressed their worry in operation due to the challenge of coronavirus.
“On account of the operating challenges posed by Covid-19 crisis, Bank of Uganda hereby grants a no objection to all regulated financial institutions for amendment of their branch operating hours to 9:00 am-3:00 pm on weekdays and for branch closure on Saturdays and Sundays,” a letter from the bank of Uganda read in part.
The letter also emphasised that all the customers be informed by the commercial banks to avoid inconveniences.
Uganda currently has 26 commercial banks including; Stanbic Bank, Centenary Bank, dfcu bank, Equity Bank, Housing Finance, Finance Trust, Bank of Africa, Absa, Diamond Trust Bank and many others.
Some banks have cut back on withdraw charges to ease the financial burden most people might be going through during this period.
