Kenya: Airtel, Medanta Africare in Pact for Mobile Healthcare

Nairobi — Airtel Kenya has partnered with Medanta Africare, an outpatient health provider to launch the mHealth service that will allow customers access quality health advice from doctors through their mobile phones.

The service will enable Airtel subscribers consult doctors from Medanta Africare and access relevant health care advice by calling 1525 at normal calling rates.

“At Airtel we believe that we need to establish an emotional connection with our customers. And this service is there to help our consumers with their health needs which is a basic need for all of us,” Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi said during the partnership announcement on Wednesday.

The first service the customers will be able to is get medical advice from various doctors including general health problems or on nutrition.

Customers will also be able to get consultation on specialised cases under the service dubbed Telemedicine, which will be a one-on-one consultation with specialists from Medanta India through Medanta’ s Centre in Nairobi.
