Kiambu Digitizes Payment of Utilities

NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 20 – Payment of utilities to the County of Kiambu has now been digitized after the county advised citizens to start using Safaricom’s M-Pesa services going forward.

The new guideline, which came into effect on Thursday, is expected to facilitate smooth and fast transactions, as well as encourage the use of cashless payment methods, which is key in fighting the coronavirus.

Payments should therefore be done on Safaricom’s Lipa Na M-Pesa paybill number 868 222 or by simply dialling *419#.

The payment method applies to services such as parking fees, single business permits, market fees, and building approvals among others.

President Uhuru Kenyatta in March encouraged Kenyans to use technology to conduct their routines, including adopting cashless transactions to help curb the Covid19 spread countrywide.
