DFCU Rising Woman Training Headed For Mbale This Week

Rising Woman Trianing in Ishaka. Same kind of training will be in Mbale this week DFCU Bank, with its partners, Monitor Publications and Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) will this week, on 7th and 8th of August 2019 hold entrepreneurship training for Women in businesses at the Kayegi hotel in Mbale.

The attendees will receive free lessons on basic business skills, enterprise management, business planning, position on access to credit and marketing, in addition to the networking opportunities.

This comes after the just concluded successful training held in Ishaka in Bushenyi district weeks back. The regional trainings are part, and in preparation of the ‘Rising Woman’ 2019 campaign and competition that has been on going. Other trainings will be held in Gulu and Kampala on dates that will be announced

Launched in 2018 under the theme ‘Taking your Business ahead’, the Rising Woman Campaign, which is being run under the DFCU ‘Women in Business’ program that started in 2007, seeks to offer financial support to women in business so that they can bring their business dreams to reality

Deadline for business proposals for willing participants is 20th September 2019. Three winners will be awarded with Shs 15m, Shs10m and Shs 5m respectively while the top ten winners will go on an all paid study trip to Nairobi in January 2020

During the official launch that happened in June this year, dfcu Bank Chief Executive Officer, Mathias Katamba said the initiative was a fundamental step on the path to creating a financially-enabling environment for female entrepreneurs.

“Our primary motivation is the fact that despite women making up over 52% of the population of Uganda, it is not reflected in the ratio of women who have access to financial services,” he said
