Kenya Airways Customers to Enjoy Discounted Prices as Airlines Resumes US Direct Flights

Kenya Airways (KQ) has announced it will offer discounts on ticket prices as it resumes directs flights to and from the US on Sunday.

Through Twitter on Sunday, the national carrier said travelers who book flight tickets before December 10th will enjoy discounted prices.

“Welcome back to the Big Apple! Today we resume our service between Nairobi and New York, and we can’t wait to welcome you on board,” KQ noted.

“Book your ticket via https://kenya-airways.com/en-ke/flights-to-new-york before December 10th to enjoy discounted rates.”

The airline had initially planned to resume operations on the Nairobi-New York route on October 31st but the relaunch was pushed to November 29th after a massive cancelation of bookings.

KQ had announced it would start with two weekly flights on Wednesdays and Sundays before increasing the frequency to three times a week in November (Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday).

KQ suspended all operations in March after the government closed the country’s airspace in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak in Kenya and other parts of the world.

When Kenya reopened its airspace for international flights on August 1st, KQ reduced its routes by half to 27, dropping nonstop flights to the US due to low demand.

KQ launched direct flights to the US in October 2018, cutting the journey to 15 hours. The airline completed 594 trips to and from New York, flying at least 105,084 passengers as of October 2019.
