NBS’ Kin Kariisa Appointed Board Chairman Eco Bank

The outgoing Board Chairman of Eco bank, Henry Lubwama (R) with his successor, Kin Kariisa during the event. Kin Kariisa, the CEO of Next media services which umbrellas NBS Television, is the new Board Chairman of Eco Bank Uganda replacing Henry Lubwama who has served in the position for years.

On the event organized to bid farewell to Lubwama, the businessman was tasked to invest more in information and technology innovations so as to transform the banking sector.

Known for his transformative leadership and expertise in ICT, Kariisa is expected to grossly shape the bank especially in the aspect of digital banking. He also owns firms in a wide range of sectors such as construction, ICT, real estate, automobile, oil and gas.

Eco bank’s Managing Director, Clement Dodoo heaped praise on the outgoing chairman, Lubwama, for standing for quality during his tenure.

“Everything that he has touched is a legacy because it stands on quality and that’s what Eco bank has received. I think he has been a perfect example of what one can achieve,” he said.

“I’m very proud of Eco bank and I always love to talk about it, that’s why great people like Henry Lubwama, Charles Mbire and Kin Kariisa accepted to join us,” he added.

In a tweet, Kariisa said it was humbling tk succeed a man whose character he described as “exemplary.”

“A wonderful night it was yesterday as the Ecobank Uganda family said goodbye to my friend Henry Lubwama, the bank’s outgoing board chairman. I am humbled to take over from a man of exemplary character,” reads Kariisa’s tweet.

While speaking at the handover event, Lubwama said: “I’ve realised that I’ve been one of the longest board members and it was time for me to go because I’ve attained and fulfilled my vision”.

He lauded the Board and staff of the bank with who he has overseen a substantial period of growth.

Lubwama said he was confident his successor, Kariisa was the right man for the job.“I welcome the incoming board chairman, Kin Kariisa, whom I believe is well suited for this job and will lead us in the digital direction because he’s a master in that field,” he said.Eco bank Uganda opeed its doors to Uganda in 2009, providing wholesale, retail, investment and transaction banking services and products to Governments, Financial Institutions, Multinationals, International Organisations, Medium, Small and Micro Businesses and individuals.
