Access Bank Ghana donates ambulance to UPSA

Health Upsa Ambulance Access Bank Ghana Plc has presented a state-of-the-art equipped ambulance to the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), as part of efforts to help deal with emergency healthcare situations at the University.

Mr Stephen Abban, Divisional Head, Retail Banking, Access Bank, on behalf of the Board and Management of the Bank on Thursday presented the vehicle to Professor Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey, Vice Chancellor, UPSA.

Mr Abban said the donation was part of the Bank’s corporate social responsibility, and supporting the health sector was one of their key pillars.

He lauded the Bank’s long standing relations with the UPSA; adding that the University was a very strategic partner of the bank.

He said the Bank believes that the UPSA Hospital needs the ambulance to serve the entire University community.
On his part, Prof Amartey expressed gratitude to the Board, Management and staff of Access Bank for coming to their aid.

He recalled that when he took over as the Vice Chancellor in early 2017, he and his team realized that one of the key things the University needed was an ambulance; based upon which they made a request to Access Bank in the early part of 2017.

“Three years down the line, we have come to a full cycle and in the days of coronavirus we are glad to announce that Access Bank has truly delivered.”

He said the provision of the ambulance was timely and that it would go a long way to enhance efficient healthcare delivery at the University.

Dr Bernard T. Dornoo, Director, Medical, UPSA, thanked the Bank for the kind gesture.
He said the ambulance would go a long way to help save lives.

Dr Dornoo said the University community has grown over the years to about 15,000 and therefore, having an ambulance would help them in transporting patients from one place to another should the need arise as it does in other diagnosis.
