The awardees and MTN officials at the ceremony MTN climaxed the 10th-anniversary celebrations of its Mobile Money service with awards dinner at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra.
Several institutions and individuals were awarded for their contribution to making the mobile money service introduced some ten years ago, a success.
Some organisations which were rewarded with citations and plaques include Fidelity Bank, Ecobank, Cal Bank, GT Bank, Access Bank, Zenith Bank, UBA, UMB, and Stanbic Bank in the Pioneering Momo Partner Bank’ category.
Barclay’s Bank, Republic Bank and First Atlantic Bank were adjudged ‘Emerging Partner Banks with Great Impact”, while Fidelity Bank was also honoured as the ‘MoMo Partner Bank Frontrunner’.
Other categories were; the ‘MoMo Fintech Pioneer’ – IT Consortium, and CoreNett Limited, and ‘Emerging and Innovative Fintech Partner’ – ‘appsNmobile Solutions’.
miLife Insurance, was honoured with the ‘First MoMo Advance Service Award’, DSTV of MultiChoice Ghana Limited took the ‘First MoMo Bill Payment Award,’ Ghana National College received the ‘First MoMo School Fees Award’ and Star Oil Company was recognised as the ‘Most Supportive MoMo Merchant.’ Individuals were also awarded for their contributions to the success of MoMo.
They were; Mr Gideon Osei Amoako was recognised as the ‘MoMo Patron,’ Mrs Elly Ohene-Adu, the ‘MoMo Powerbroker’; Dr Settor Kwabla Amediku, the ‘MoMo Regulatory Influencer’ while General Manager of MTN MoMo, Eli Hini was named the ‘MoMo Trailblazer.’
Others were; Mr Bruno Akpaka who received an award as the ‘MoMo Master Minder,’ Deputy Communications Minister, George Nenyi Andah was honoured with the ‘MoMo Brand Builder’ and Mr Ebenezer Twum Asante took home the ‘MoMo Game Changer.’
The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, Selorm Adadevoh mentioned that Momo platform has contributed significantly to the country’s economic growth and also created job opportunities for people.
The General Manager of MTN MoMo, Eli Hini, expressed appreciation to staff of MTN and partners for contributing to the growth of the platform
